Learn About Me, and How I Will Make My Mark on the World
Hi! I’m Chloe Naphy and I am an 18 year old college student studying Communication and Media Arts at Montclair State University.
On the outside I probably seem like another average student trying to find their place in this crazy mess we call the real world. I plan to graduate in 4 years with a degree in Communication and possibly a minor in film, I always do all of my assignments and have a mindset of having a GPA of at least 3.5, and I joined a handful of clubs to start building up my resume. I am a part of the Montclair State Video Production Club and help them shoot different projects, as well as being an actor on their youtube show Signing Off. I am also a college athlete and helped to start the Montclair State Club Gymnastics Team. All of this makes me seem like a cookie cutter student.
However what sets me apart from my peers in the School of Communication and Media is the natural passion that is on the inside. Cliche, I know, but just hear me out.
I definitely don’t have the most experience in the Communication and Production field; and I may not have made an entire full length film when I was in 8th grade, but I know what I want and everything I have achieved thus far, I have worked hard for myself. The truth is, growing up I didn’t have very many opportunities to explore this field of work hands on. Instead I resorted to watching movies, constantly. I studied the camera angles, the scene changes, and how the actors portrayed their characters; and I fell in love. I knew that this was the field I wanted to work in.
So, I worked hard in high school, earned scholarships, and am now putting myself through college; all in an attempt to make my big plans come true.
I want to direct/work in the production parts of films and television shows. I’m not sure what specifically yet, but I like to do everything at the moment, even act. My dream is to work on a project that shoots in different locations around the world, such as my favorite show Killing Eve on BBC America, which definitely inspires my work. This show is everything I’ve ever wanted in a show and exactly what I aspire to achieve. There is something about the authentic locations that adds some flavor to the show that a green screen just can’t do.
I am working hard to achieve these goals in college and make connections through my peers and professors. So let’s see where this journey takes me, and maybe one day we’ll be reading this post and thinking, wow, look how far she’s come.
